Overview

Peterson Power Systems has immediate opening for a Foreman in Redding's Service Department. Reporting to Service Manager, the Foreman will perform service activities in the Power Service Department. Provide technical support, assistance with repair procedures and processes, and on-the-job training (OJT) for shop technicians. Act as back-up to Service Manager. Facilitate completion of large and complex projects in the shop and/or field.

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions

Repair, replace or rebuild engines, fuel systems, generator control systems, switch gear, etc.

Write service reports that accurately document diagnosis and repairs performed.

Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and time cards in an accurate and timely manner.

Back up service manager on more complex jobs, problem situations, and problem solving and/or job estimates beyond flat rates. Provide back up for vacations, meetings, etc.

Provide technical support and OJT for other technicians in the shop.

Assist Service Manager with performance evaluations and feedback on observations of technicians in shop and field.

Open and Close all shop work orders with-in 7 days from last day of labor (LDL).

Maintain a positive working environment, modeling Peterson's core values.

Track large or special customer jobs through repair process to insure they are completed in a timely manner, parts are ordered properly, repairs are done accurately, and are performed safely.

Responsible to keep service manager informed and updated on daily shop operations and possible problem situations, including any redo.

Support company safety policies and procedures; maintain a safe and clean working environment.

Maintain ongoing customer service relation business plan; maintain excellent communication with employees and customers.

Monitor work-in-process, testing, and final preparation of repaired products.

Keep Service Manager informed of lost, stolen, or broken tooling and equipment.

Provide assistance to parts, service, and sales personnel for the preparation of job quotes.

Attend departmental, store, and training meetings as required.

Other duties as assigned by service manager.

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates degree in Diesel Technology or related field preferred, plus 6 years previous Commercial Engine Service experience.

Proficiency in computer applications in both mainframe and PC environments.

Possess valid commercial driver's license and clean driving record.

Ability to read, interpret, and analyze service and other business reports, service bulletins, technical procedures, and other reports pertaining to the service of commercial engines.

Ability to become lift-truck certified.

Ability to apply concepts of math and algebra.

Physical requirement include ability to maneuver 50 pounds, standing, walking, bending, crawling, stooping, kneeling, and working in awkward positions at times.

Ability to work in various environments, such as shop and field, subject to heat, noise, dust, cold, inclement weather, etc.

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, apply common-sense understanding, give and follow verbal instructions, as well as in written form.

Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failure, problem-solve, and provide assistance to technicians as needed.

Ability to provide back-up to service manager when needed; previous supervisory experience helpful.

Maintain a tool inventory to perform commercial engine technician position.
