Peterson has an immediate need for an experienced Sales Representative at our San Leandro, CA location.  The person in the position will combine technical knowledge with selling skills and relationship building to sell electric power systems to contractors and end users in assigned territory.  The Sales Representative will also be responsible for supporting engineering consultants in assigned territory. 

Responsibilities

Responsible for the sale of new Electric Power Generation products in assigned territory. 
Develop and maintain deep relationships with current and potential customers by: Prospecting new customers to develop relationships, identify key personnel and decision makers, understand how Peterson can support customer business and document and record in CRM. 
Maintain and improve relationships with current customers with business relationships with key personnel and decision makers. 
Making regular sales calls with multiple contacts at each customer location. 
Providing rapid response to; Requests for information both commercial and technical, Requests for budget pricing, Requests for firm pricing, Resolution of problems on existing sold projects

Entertaining customers with lunch, dinners or sporting events, etc.
Interact with colleagues from a range of departments and outside entities including; Project management, Project Engineering, the Senior Engineer, Contracts, Credit, Service Dept., Caterpillar Reps, Vendors, Caterpillar Sales Managers and customers to ensure: The product or service offered meets or exceeds the customers’ expectations and, if applicable, the specifications and drawings. That the product or service offered aligns with Peterson’s core values and goals and objectives. The proposals offered reflect accurate equipment cost estimations, delivery schedules, and performance levels. The contract terms are acceptable to Peterson. Peterson gets the order.
Complete all required customer and Peterson paperwork on time. Use of iMacs is mandatory for submitting sold projects to our project management team.
Participate in company meetings and training events as requested. Use Customer Relationship Management Reporting Tool daily. 
Regular attendance are timeliness is an essential function of the job.
Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation. 
Respectfully takes direction from supervisor/ manager.
Support marketing activities by attending Trade Shows, conferences and other marketing events.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science or Arts degree (BS) from a four year college or university; and two to three years of related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in standby electric power generation sales or service sales. A solid technical background in diesel, gas engines, rotating machinery, or electric power distribution systems and power quality. Experience in electric power generation is preferred but not required. Must enjoy working with people and building strong relationships.
