Peterson has an immediate need for an experienced Used Equipment Sales Representative at our San Leandro, CA location.  Working under the supervision of the General Sales Manager, the Used Equipment Sales Representative performs a wide variety of sales and marketing duties with Peterson’s assigned AOR and beyond.  The Used Equipment Sales Representative maintains frequent communication with customers and works to develop new business, and will also act as a support person to Peterson’s sales team that operates within Peterson’s territory.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell Peterson’s used truck inventory; develop proposals and estimates; prepare and deliver quotations, sell warranty coverage’s; work to develop trust between customer and Peterson as a whole. In addition to International products, must have the ability to sell and promote all brands of used trucks and related services.
  • Meet weekly with the General Sales Manager to review activity, forecast, and coordinate with the activities of the entire Sales Department.
  • Attend weekly department meetings to present department forecast.
  • Inspect and Appraise trucks that are candidates for trade packages.
  • Maintain inventory control and readiness. This includes but is not limited to maintaining the master inventory list, monthly inventory yard checks and reconciliations, keeping all trucks “retail ready” including cleanliness, maintenance and presentation, keep all trucks secured, key organization, yard layout, and make sure all trucks are serviced and operational.  Arrange for inventory transport between Peterson branches.
  • Execute a marketing strategy. This includes but is not limited to coordinating with Peterson’s Marketing Coordinator to make sure all advertising meets Peterson’s standards and required photographs are available.  In addition, the Used Equipment Sales Representative will develop and publish product literature and coordinate with ISR and Web Master that all used trucks are correctly advertised in all web and media outlets at the accurate price, specs, and pictures.
  • Organize day to seek out and make as many sales contacts as possible to potential used truck customers, including telemarketing using company’s CRM data base and personal visits. Follow up on sales calls as needed to ensure completed job; maintain good customer relations through frequent contacts; intercede to solve problems and disputes; enhance relationships within scope of Company Mission Statement and Values.
  • Provide support to Peterson sales team by showing the customer equipment in the yard and providing customer information back to the appropriate sales person.
  • Keep current on customer equipment inventory and needs; keep current on new products and product changes and relevant company sales policies and procedures.
  • Maintain equipment turn-down log.
  • Maintain and submit necessary paperwork and reports in a timely and complete manner, such as sales calls and expense reports, etc.
  • Document and inform the Sales Manager of potential process and cost improvements.
  • Cooperate, communicate, and work closely with sales and other personnel.
  • Regular attendance and timeliness are an essential function for this job.
  • Be available for customer calls after-hours and weekends for emergency situations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three (3) years of experience in a sales role, heavy equipment trucks or related field and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have a Class B driver’s license and obtain DOT medical card.
