Peterson has an immediate need for an experienced Rental Equipment Technician Trainee at our Hillsboro, OR location. The person in the position performs a wide variety of duties including tasks in the equipment yard, repairs and maintenance from small equipment / engines to larger construction equipment, and providing customer service for internal and external customers.
Perform the following service operations under close supervision:
Assist with the Pre-delivery setup and installation on all makes and models of Caterpillar equipment and allied products.
Assist with minor machine repairs, work tool and attachment maintenance and installation as well as performing scheduled maintenance on machines.
Write service reports that accurately document activities.
Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and time cards in an accurate and timely manner to enable other employees to do their job in a timely manner.
Follow manufacturer and company service guidelines and procedures to ensure quality work and to preserve and document component failure information for accurate failure analysis.
Keep work area clean throughout day to ensure and maintain safe work environment.
Observe safety policies, procedures, rules, and laws.
Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship and demonstrates Peterson’s core values.
Participate in Peterson’s safety programs, tailgate meetings, and monthly safety meetings.
Work overtime as needed and within labor law guidelines.
Other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
Respectfully takes direction from supervisor/ manager.
High School Diploma or General Education degree (GED); and 1 year of experience in heavy equipment maintenance/service; coursework in diesel technology preferred; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
