    Reporting to the General Sales Manager, Peterson’s Earthmoving (EM) Sales Inventory Manager will have responsibility for managing new EM inventory and determining appropriate stocking levels in order to maximize inventory turns and market share. The Manager will work with Finance to forecast inventory and facilitate the process of sending demand signals to major suppliers. The Manager will be a resource for Sales and Finance to produce metrics as needed to analyze performance. The EM Sales Inventory Manager will supervise a team to handle all forecasting, ordering and inventory management of new EM machines and attachments.


    • Supervise, mentor and support EM Sales Inventory Management team as primary point of support, coordinate for coverage when team members are out of the office.
    • Determine optimal stocking levels for new EM machines and attachments using historical information, current market data and statistical tools.
    • Make decisions on items to stock and order through BOM, S&OP, Ship-After and other means.
    • Stock items necessary to maximize inventory turns.
    • Stock items necessary to hit market share goals.
    • Provide Sales and Finance management with detailed analyses in order to make appropriate inventory decisions.
    • Own tools and process of sending inventory demand signals and forecast variances to suppliers, including day one snapshot, over-order requests, collaboration, current month plus 18 months.
    • Provide Finance with forecasts of new EM inventory purchases and transfers (both units and dollars) as needed.
    • Work with Rental General Managers (GMs) to deliver demand signals to suppliers for equipment needs throughout the year to secure delivery of units within their desired rental load period.
    • Manage California Air Resources Board/Equipment Identification Number (CARB/EIN) daily work and reporting to ensure we are fully compliant.
    • Manage aged inventory and process to meet department goals.
    • Ensure asset data for machines and attachments in Dealer Business System (DBS) and other systems is current, accurate and complete.
    • Own asset management tools and process, currently iMetrix.
    • Facilitate monthly inventory and sales review meetings.
    • Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.  




    Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics or Statistics (or related field) and three years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 


    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    • Ability to speak effectively with all stakeholders of the organization both one on one and in a presentation setting.

    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, ability to apply concepts of statistics, basic algebra, fractions, percentages and ratios to practical situations.

    • Job requires specialized computer skills. Must be adept at using various applications including database, spreadsheet, report writing, word processing, presentation creation/editing, communicate by e-mail.
